Checks and balances ensure that these branches work together and keep each other in check. For example, the legislative branch makes laws, but the executive branch can veto them. The judicial branch can declare laws unconstitutional, limiting the other two branches. This system promotes cooperation and prevents abuse of power, maintaining a stable and fair government.
A simple example
If Congress passes a law, the president can veto it. However, Congress can override the veto with enough votes. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court can review the law to decide if it follows the Constitution. This interaction shows checks and balances in action.
