Why this matters

This system of checks and balances helps ensure that no single branch can control everything. For example, the legislative branch can make laws, but the executive branch can veto them. The judicial branch can review laws and actions to make sure they follow the constitution. This balance protects citizens' rights and promotes fair governance.

Imagine a government where the people who make laws can also decide if those laws are fair or not. This might lead to unfair rules. Instead, with checks and balances, one group makes laws, another enforces them, and another interprets them. If one group tries to overstep, the others can stop it.
